Born and raised in the Treasure Valley, Anawae enjoys watching her home develop into an emerging wine, beer and cider destination. Anawae is a graduate of the Integrated Plant Sciences program at Washington State University (GO COUGS!), but her love of viticulture and enology began much earlier than college.
She credits her love of the outdoors to her parents. Subjecting Anawae and her siblings to (painfully) long road trips to middle-of-nowhere destinations, she understands the simple pleasure of hiking out to a roadside butte or jumping into a cold highway-adjacent river. Lake Chelan is a summer destination for the Lippincott family and a place which inspired Anawae’s career in winemaking. Chelan, a wine town in Central Washington known for family vineyards, is snuggled into the mountain slopes defining the United States’ third deepest lake. Here, she observed outstanding hospitality and a family atmosphere which inspired memory-making experiences with family and friends. A former Telaya intern, Anawae rejoins the company in 2020 after working on the South Island of New Zealand. Traveling pushed Anawae towards new experiences and she can’t wait to explore new wine regions abroad. She hopes to continue to test the boundaries of her comfort zone.
