Hailey’s roots are proudly Idahoan, including a great uncle who held office as a state legislator. However, her initial interest in old world wine hails from her high school travels to Europe, which also enamored her of Alps-skiing and rugged mountain men-eyeing. She knew for sure that she wanted a career in wine after a month in Italy working on a Spumante vineyard and winery post-college. In addition to Hailey’s induction to wine abroad, she worked a harvest for Leonetti Cellars in Walla Walla, Washington. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her formal education--besides completing two degrees at Lewis and Clark College, she studied Viticulture through Washington State’s Viticulture Certificate program. She is currently working toward her certification in Enology. After meeting a rugged, mountain man-esque river guide who is now her husband, Hailey knew it was time to return to her roots. At Telaya, we are proud to claim her as one of our own, and we are glad she found her way back home! Hailey’s favorite current release is 2018 Chardonnayand of all the places she’s been, the Greek isles rank as #1.
